Crash closes I-71 for 1 1/2 hours

WESTFIELD TWP. — The state highway patrol closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 71 for approximately 1½ hours Thursday after two commercial vehicles collided at 12:38 a.m. near mile marker 206, Trooper Alan Dunbar said.

Train ride promotes rail safety

MEDINA — Twenty-nine people died last year in railroad accidents in Ohio.
Eight of them at railroad crossings, 21 of them pedestrians trespassing onto railroad tracks, Ohio Operation Lifesaver reports. The national nonprofit public safety education organization continues to chug along the tracks, aiming to reduce those numbers.
