Medina General Hospital
May 17 was the Medina Heart Walk, an American Heart Association fundraising event attended by hundreds of walkers. Brad Root, local AHA and MGH Board member, provided opening remarks, followed by a warm welcome and encouraging words from Dr. Qarab Syed, cardiologist from the North Ohio Heart Center. A testimonial was given by Renee Kelly, Medina General Hospital materials management employee, on her amazing health journey over the last 15 months. Kelly’s journey began with a simple blood pressure screening outside the MGH cafeteria at “Go Red for Women” in February 2006 where she discovered that her blood pressure was extremely elevated.

Renee received the American Heart Association Lifestyle Award at the heart walk for her dedication to a healthier diet and daily walks that led to her amazing 100-pound weight loss and improvement in her overall health.
