Trailer-mounted strawblower now available to rent

By JEFF VAN LOON
Medina County SWCD
In order to assist landowners and others with preventing erosion on unseeded bare areas, the Medina County SWCD has purchased a trailer-mounted strawblower for rental purposes. The board of supervisors wanted to provide this service to help get good seedings established for sites in Medina County that have undergone earth disturbance this summer.
Many times seedings are overlooked or forgotten, and sedimentation to nearby streams and ditches can occur. The new strawblower comes with a 50-foot flex hose for accurrate placement around homes or structures, and the machine can blow it out over 50 feet as well. The unit works well around areas like new ponds, lawns, ditches, new grassed waterways, development sites, new construction sites, etc.
Whether a permanent or temporary seeding situation, the unit will cover the ground appropriately. The board has notified all townships, cities, villages, schools, utilities, contractors and others directly and would like to get the word out to landowners as well.
Contact the office for rental rates and for more information at 330-722-2628, ext. 3. The office is located at 6090 Wedgewood Road (state Route 162) next to the county home, Lafayette Township.
Van Loon is the district manager of the Medina County Soil and Water Conservation District.
