Thanksgiving Day doesn’t have to be centered around the turkey and potatoes. To make your day a little different this year, here are three things to do before the big meal:
1. Volunteer. Home Instead needs volunteers to cook, assemble and deliver hot meals to seniors throughout Medina County. Assistance is needed between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in one-hour shifts. If you can help, call Pam Myers at 330-725-6662 or 330-334-4664.
2. Deliver dessert. The Main Street Café, 17 Public Square, Medina, hosts a free Thanksgiving dinner from 1 to 4 p.m. for those in need and could use your treats for its dessert bar. If you can donate a dessert, drop one off at the restaurant that morning. For more information, call 330-722-2729.
3. Go for a run. Before you stuff yourself with turkey, why not get some exercise? Head over to the 26th annual Fleet Feet Sports Turkey Trot and get ready to run. The Turkey Trot will begin and end at the Cleveland Convention Center, located at 500 Lakeside Ave., Cleveland. The one-mile race begins at 8:55 a.m., and the 5-mile starts at 9:30 a.m. For information and to register, go to www.hermescleveland.com/Turkey_Trot.
