Robert L. Shirley, 80, of Medina, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, under the care of Hospice at The Inn at Medina.
He was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Columbus. Mr. Shirley was a tool and die maker, retiring from General Motors. He enjoyed his family and photography. He served in the Navy during World War II in Okinawa, Iwo Jima and the Philippines. He also served in the Armyâ€™s 350th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War, where he met and married Doris in Salzburg, Austria.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris (nee Cadei) Shirley; daughters, Violet (James) Moses of Medina and Barbara (Joseph) Allman of Stow; son, Jack (Angelia) Shirley of Medina; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert, in 1977.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St. Dr. John Mills will officiate.
Burial: Hope Memorial Park, Hinckley Township.
Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
