Guy Leo Bannister Jr., 75, of Seville and Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2007.
He was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Washington, Pa., to Guy Sr. and Virginia Bannister. Mr. Bannister was a graduate of Washington, Pa., High School, class of 1949, and Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He retired from Louisiana Pacific Co. as an industrial engineer and plant manager. After retirement, he spent many hours enjoying golf with family and friends, as well as spending time with his pride and joy â€” his beloved grandchildren. Mr. Bannister was a member of Wadsworth First Christian Church and an associate member of Fort Myers Christian Church, serving as a deacon. He was a coach of youth baseball and football and a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Marine Corps.
Mr. Bannister is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean Fleming Bannister; sons, Jim (Cathie) of Lake Worth, Fla., and Tracy (Betsy) of Roswell, Ga.; daughters, Jackie (Mark) White of Coto de Caza, Calif., and Penny (Rick) Kies of Westfield Center; and grandchildren, Brian and Andrea White, Matt, Stacey and Tara Kies, and Jeff and Kevin Bannister.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Gene.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 116 E. Boyer St., Wadsworth.
The family will receive friends beginning at noon Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or to First Christian Church, Wadsworth.
