Harold E. Gift, 84, formerly of Medina, peacefully passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, surrounded by his family.
He was an alumnus of Medina High School (1940). He was past post commander of American Legion Post 202, Medina. Mr. Gift served at many local dealerships as a GM parts and service manager, he semi-retired and joined the Greater Ohio Showmanâ€™s Association. He served during World War II as a medic with the 106th Medical Battalion. He spent many years on the road with his wife and family at local fairs and festivals. His colorful presence on the midway will be greatly missed by all concessionaires.
He is survived by his children, Cinda (Jerry) Gates, Candace Fraser, Christy (Mac) McDivitt, Colleen Gift, Harold (Melody) Gift, Kevin (Angela) Gift, Patty Gift and Michele (Napoleon) Fernandez; grandchildren, Jeannette, Jerry Jr. (Kellie) and Julie Gates, Cathy Kaufman, Crystal (Mike) Coffman, Heather and Matthew Fraser, Gwen (Scott) Ingles, Zachary (Sheila) Schaefer, Holly, Megan and Ryan McDivitt, Joshua (Emily) Gift, Samantha Gift, Kaylin Dorrel, Meredith and Clair Smitley, and Alex, Erica and Daniel Fernandez; and great-grandchildren, Cody, Hardy, Charnelia, Tiffany, Brody, Madison, Cori, Jasmine, Jake, Brandon, Ryan, Mike, Taylor, Logan, Zack, Nicky and Cody.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Patricia (nee Schaeffer).
Service: 11 a.m. today at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St.
Interment: St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church Cemetery, Valley City.
