Tennis roundup: Bees fourth at NOC

LYNDHURST — Medina’s boys tennis team finished fourth Saturday at the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division Tournament.

Solon (54), Hudson (48) and Strongsville (33) each wound up ahead of the Bees (18), while Mayfield (12) placed fifth and last.

Medina’s Lucas Walters was fourth in the tough first singles bracket, while teammates Zach Peters and Chris Haslam finished in the same spot at second and third singles, respectively.

The second doubles team of Jordan Johnston and Clint Lehotan also placed fourth.

In the NOC’s Lake Division Tournament, Brush (61) rolled to the crown over Lakewood (46), Elyria (42), Valley Forge (36), Normandy (31) and Garfield Heights (24).

DOYLESTOWN — Two days after the Grizzlies put together what coach Jason Ball called “by far, the best tennis we have played this season,” they went on the road and stunned the Chipps (13-4). Tyler Jack scored the decisive point at third singles for Wadsworth (2-16) by beating Chippewa’s Dylan Michel 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. Michael Farver and Ryan LaDu completed the singles sweep for the Grizzlies with straight set triumphs. “This was a great win,” Ball said.
