NEW LONDON â€” Jake Boettner had a busy and productive Saturday for Buckeyeâ€™s boys track team.
The sophomore had a first-place finish, two seconds and a third, leading the Bucks to a third-place finish at the Bob Knoll invitational at New London High.
Boettner took home gold in the high jump, finished second in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, and tied for third in the pole vault.
Monroeville won the meet with 111.5 points, while Buckeye notched 83.
Black Riverâ€™s Robert Altenburger also had a quality meet with a first-place finish in the 3,200 and a second in the 1,600. The Pirates finished the meet in sixth place with a score of 49.
The Bucks also received a first from Kyle Miller in the 800 and from its 4×800 of Miller, Ben Eggert, Ian Hunt and Brad Ferguson.
Carlton Watkins (high jump) and Josh Varney (discus) also recorded thirds.
Black Riverâ€™s girls team finished in fifth place behind three individual seconds: Rachel Herte (300 hurdles), Alissa Brown (3200) and Kylie Vozar (high jump).
Host New London won the girls competition with 111 points. Black River was fifth with 57 followed by Buckeyeâ€™s 52.Â
Erin Jesse had the only individual first-place finishes for Buckeye. She took home gold in the high jump and 300 hurdles, and also managed a third-place finish in the 100 hurdles.
Buckeyeâ€™s 4×800 of Julie Kotesovec, Avery Rogers, Cassie Algire and Jessie Yagel took second place, while Black Riverâ€™s Rebecca Herte was third in the pole vault.Â
