James L. Frase, 86, of Medina, a lifetime resident of the county, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, in Medina.
He was born Jan. 26, 1922, in Wadsworth. He was a graduate of Copley High School. Mr. Frase was employed by the Bearfoot Sole Co. for more than 35 years before retiring. He was a longtime faithful servant of Granger United Methodist Church, where he also sang in the choir for many years. The family would like to thank the staff at the Medina Village Retirement Community for the loving care that they gave James. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II.
He was the beloved father of Cathy (Thomas) Martin and Cindy Frase, both of Lexington, Ky., and Susan (Tom) Hissem of Granger Township; dear Poppy of Shane and Kate Sawyer, and Jim and Joe Hissem; brother of Helen (Abe) Crosier of Fairlawn and Betty (Bob) Simo of Wooster; brother-in-law of Glendon Roach of Sharon Township and Delores Frase of Norton; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He also is survived by many cousins, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 53 years, Helene J. (nee Johns) Frase; brothers, Oakley, Austin and Raymond Frase; sister, Evelyn Roach; sister-in-law, Corinne Frase; and parents, Clayton Boyer and Elizabeth (nee Butzer) Frase.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday at Granger United Methodist Church, 1235 Granger Road. The Rev. Tom Joyce will officiate.
Private military burial: Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
Visiting hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St.
