– A vehicle was pulled over for expired plates in the 500 block of Birch Hill Drive at 5:56 p.m. Friday. The driver, Eric Finklea, 23, of Cleveland, said he borrowed the car from a friend, but didn’t know the friend’s last name.

The officer saw credit cards, which did not belong to Finklea, sitting on the center console of the car and what appeared to be recently purchased items in the car.

The officer called the vehicle’s owner, whose boyfriend loaned the car to Finklea, and the boyfriend said he knew nothing about the credit cards.

The officer contacted each of the credit card owners who said their cards were stolen from two different bars, one in Brunswick and one in Medina.

Finklea was charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony. He was taken to the Medina County Jail and his bond was set at $10,000. He had not posted bail as of Tuesday afternoon.

– While getting treated in the emergency room at Medina General Hospital at 12:26 a.m. Saturday, a man’s girlfriend, Mindy Oliver, 28, of 357 W. Union St., allegedly attempted to steal a vial containing Dilaudid, a pain medication.

While staff were busy treating her boyfriend, Oliver reportedly took one of two vials. An officer was called after staff realized one vial was missing.

After Oliver emptied her purse per the officer’s request, he asked to look in the purse himself. After some hesitation, Oliver reportedly pulled out the missing vial. She was cited for theft of a dangerous drug, a fourth-degree felony.
