Dexter J. Maynard, 38, of West Salem, passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2008.

He was born June 26, 1970, in Medina to Wendell and Betty (Varney) Maynard. He was a supervisor for Ariel in Mount Vernon and worked previously as a supervisor at Valspar in Medina for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Cooper) Maynard, whom he married June 17, 1995; daughter, Danielle Maynard of the home; stepdaughter, Nicole Elswick of Medina; two grandchildren; parents, Wendell and Betty Maynard of Lodi; sister, Diana (Tim) Komjati of Chippewa Lake; brother, David (Julie) Maynard of Aurora, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his stepson, Gary Elswick Jr.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church of West Salem, 80 E. Buckeye St., with Pastor Martha Mathatas officiating.

Visiting hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Matteson Funeral Home, 40 Congress St., West Salem.
