Howard I. Cleveland, 85, of Valley City, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Life Care Center of Medina in Liverpool Township.
He was born April 5, 1923, in Mansfield. He was raised in Chatham Township and lived there from 1940 to 1956, when he moved to Valley City. Howard was a poultry man. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Valley City. He enjoyed listening to music and raising Keeshond dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, whom he married July 6, 1951; children, Nancy (Robert Messmore) Cleveland of California, Linda (Bruce) Funai of Chippewa Lake, and Randy and David Cleveland, both of California; grandchildren, Heidi, Curtis and Tina Funai; and sister, Loretta Cleveland of California.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Sandra, in 1958; sister, Elinor Smith; and brothers, Aldis, Robert and Maurice Cleveland.
Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. The Rev. Edwin Shriver will officiate.
Burial: Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Valley City.
Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
