Peggy R. Jobe passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, in Medina surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Manatee, Fla., in 1925 and came to Ohio in 1961 with her husband, who had transferred to Medina as an Ohio State Patrolman. Mrs. Jobe was a graduate of Berea College in Berea, Ky., and taught school in Winston-Salem, N.C. She gained additional experience at several Ohio schools before settling at Brunswick High School. While at Brunswick, she was employed as a charter member of the Medina County Joint Vocational School (JVS). In her capacity as unit principal, Mrs. Jobe helped to start numerous training programs and instructional methods, many of which are still in operation. She retired in 1986 after more than 40 years of full-time teaching. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Jobe is survived by her son, Steven; daughter-in-law, Sheri; her dear family, Brett and Elaine Ridgley; grandchildren, Anthony and Athena Ridgley; and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Carl, whom she married in 1952; parents, Jack and Frances Hicks; siblings, Wanda, Patsy and Buddy Hicks, all of Bryson City, N.C.
Service: 7 p.m. Tuesday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St.
Burial: 10 a.m. Thursday at Spring Grove Cemetery, Medina.
Visiting hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
