Betty M. (nee Gould) Montz, 79, of Brunswick, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, in Medina.
She was born May 31, 1929, in Cleveland. She was a bookkeeper for Montz Hardware, which was owned by her father-in-law. Betty was a den mother in Cub Scouts and past president of the Mothers Auxiliary in Boy Scouts. She was president of the Miles Park Elementary School PTA. She was a very active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where she was president of St. Markâ€™s Womenâ€™s Guild, a member of LWMW and the Altar Guild, and secretary of recreation and fellowship. She also was president of the book club sponsored by the Brunswick Recreation Center. Betty enjoyed reading, gardening and keeping up with her flowerbeds. She enjoyed displaying her ceramic houses for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of Brunswick; children, Lawrence Robert Montz of Marblehead, Harry (Alicia) Montz of Garfield Heights, Barry (Deborah) Montz of Cleveland and Kathleen Dunlay of Brunswick; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Luella Gould; brother, George Gould; sisters, Laurette Knapp and Marian Gould; and aunt, Josephine Gould.
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1330 N. Carpenter Road, Brunswick. Pastor Michael Geml will officiate.
Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Brunswick Chapel, 3300 Center Road, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church.
