David Thomas Timic, 61, of Lodi, passed away suddenly on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
He was born Dec. 29, 1946, in Lodi and was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Cloverleaf High School in 1964 and entered the Navy, serving in Vietnam. Following his military service, he was employed by B&O Railroad for 12 years and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service in the Lodi and Medina offices for 30 years. He was a member of Lodi United Methodist Church, was past master of Harrisville Masonic Lodge 137 F&AM and also was active in Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekahs, Odd Fellows and a number of other fraternal organizations, serving each in numerous offices and capacities. He was proud of and enjoyed his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Forrester), who he married Aug. 23, 1975; children, Michael A. Lawton of Lodi, Michele (David) Filous of Lodi, Bradley J. Lawton of Lodi and Teresa (Rick) Schempp of Medina; grandchildren, Lucas (Dina) Lawton, Winter Lawton, Justin and Amanda Filous, Alan (Kristie) Schempp, and Rachael, Daniel and Ericka Schempp; sister, Pamela (Dennis) Mohn of Chippewa Lake; brothers, James (Diana) Green of Medina and Benny (Janet) Bensinger of Florida; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Mildred (Massie) Green; grandson, Chad Michael Lawton; and great-granddaughter, Madison Ray.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi. The Rev. David Howell of Lodi will officiate.
Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Lodi.
Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 8:45.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lodi United Methodist Church or the Kidney or Cystic Fibrosis foundations.
