Ralph Mills Douglas, 77, of Westfield Center, entered into eternal rest at his home Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, after a six-month battle with cancer.
He was born May 1, 1931, in Ivydale, W.Va., to John and Myrtle (Hisson) Douglas. He was retired from Advance Bronze Inc. of Lodi. He was a member of Creston Advent Christian Church. Ralph enjoyed fishing, gospel singing, playing cards and spending time at his retirement home in West Virginia with his family and grandchildren. He also was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns and West Virginia Mountaineers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda (Starcher), who he married Jan. 29, 1955; children, Susan (Guy) Hamilton of Wadsworth, Paul (Nancy) Douglas of Ivydale, Cindy (Frank) McCrork of Wadsworth and Hope (Mark) Papke of Parma Heights; grandchildren, Heather and Jason Hohn, Brennon Nicole Duston, David McCrork, Brian McCrork, Crissy and Jeff Summers, Kelly Paxton, and Gabriel and Corey Papke; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Tommy, Seth and Asia; brothers, Jim Douglas of Ivydale and Woodrow Douglas of Bath, Mich.; and sisters, Ruth Salisbury and Barbara Boggs, both of Ivydale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Johnny, Ernest, Carl and Darrell, all of Ivydale; sister, Muriel Bledsoe of Charleston, W.Va.; and infant brother and sister, Paul and Mary Douglas.
Service: 1 p.m. Thursday at Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St., Creston. The Rev. Phillip Dague will officiate.
Burial: Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Guilford Township.
Visiting hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
