Environmental and liability awareness training for Medina Countyâ€™s equine industry will be held 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 19 and 20 in Room 309 at the Medina University Tech Center, 6300 Technology Lane, Lafayette Township.
The program curriculum is sanctioned by the Ohio Livestock Coalition. The program is set up to address equine operations facility management in a manner that is friendly to horses, alpacas, neighbors and the environment. Topics covered will be pasture, hay and forages, nutrient management, water quality and regulations, facility management, neighbor relations and equine liability law.
There will be a registration fee of $20, which will be refunded if the participant attends both evenings. By completing the training program, attendees will satisfy one of the requirements for a livestock owner to receive possible financial assistance from federal or state programs to resolve resource conservation problems.
Speakers for the training are from the USDA-NRCS, Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Soil and Water Conservation, Ohio Livestock Coalition, Ohio Farm Bureau and Seville Town and Country.
Program sponsors are Medina SWCD, Medina County Farm Bureau, NRCS-USDA, Seville Town and Country and ODNR Division of Soil and Water Conservation.
