Ishmald F. McCourt, 77, of Medina, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, in Medina.
He was born March 24, 1931, in Webster Springs, W.Va., to Oscar and Blanche McCourt. Pastor McCourt was a minister for 55 years. He was one of the founders of Medina Union Mission Church, where he served as pastor for 35 years and was still a member and trustee. He retired after 44 years of service at General Motors, where he was a set-up man. He was loved by many families and church friends.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillie Ruth (nee Skidmore) McCourt; sons, Bardner McCourt of Wadsworth, Tom (Mary) McCourt of Wellington and Mark (Katie) McCourt of Wadsworth; daughters, Zelma Kay Cogar and Lisa Walter, both of Lodi; grandchildren, Emily R. McCourt, Shelly Simpson, Cheryl Johnson, Tara Swiger, Carly Rachel, Ethan, Rachel, Grace and Isaac McCourt, and Aaron and Jessica Walter; great-grandchildren, Jarrod, Hannah, Aden, Isobel, Kaidon and Ritchie; sisters, Geneva Rook, Erma Pierson and Jenean Fetzer; brothers, Harry Gordon McCourt, Major McCourt and Arlen Lorine McCourt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bessie Irene McCourt and Sophia Pauline Carpenter; and brothers, Boyd Hartsel McCourt and Burton McCourt.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St. The Rev. John Kimble will officiate.
Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, Medina.
Visiting hours: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
