Colleen E. Snyder

Colleen E. Snyder, 51, of Medina, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, in Medina.

She was born Sept. 30, 1957, in Lodi. Mrs. Snyder was the recipient of a Congressional Proclamation (Ohio 13th District) for her advocacy of the American Cancer Society at the local, state, and federal levels. The Colleen E. Snyder annual award was named in her honor for work dedicated to the American Cancer Society. She was involved in Relay for Life as team recruitment chair and in fundraising, letter writing, public speaking and more. She was a Sunday school teacher at Litchfield United Church of Christ, a volunteer for the Battered Women’s Shelter and a Boy Scout/Girl Scout leader and supporter. Mrs. Snyder received the 2008 American Cancer Survivor Award in October at the Cattle Barons Ball.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Bill Snyder; sons, Joseph (fiancée Candie Proffit) Bukszar of Phoenix, Matthew (fiancée Emily Roetzel) Snyder of Parma and Patrick Snyder of Medina; parents, Don and Carol (nee Law) Cullin of Litchfield Township; grandson, Aiden Bukszar; sisters, Dawn Clower and Rebecca (Russ) Geisinger; brother, Bradley (Connie) Clower; one niece; and three nephews.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St. Pastor Will Smith will officiate.

Burial: Litchfield Cemetery.

Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
