John J. Swansinger

John James Swansinger, 78, of Brunswick, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights.

He was born June 17, 1930, in Cleveland. Mr. Swansinger was a supervisor for American National Can. He was a charter member of Brunswick VFW Post 9520, an active member of Parma Lapidary Club and active in St. Ambrose Parish. Mr. Swansinger loved gardening, fishing, making jewelry and fine woodworking. He loved his family and was a friend to many. He was an Army veteran.

Mr. Swansinger is survived by his wife, Marian (nee Ratajczak) Swansinger; sons, Phillip (Ginger) and John (Lisa); daughters, Barbara Price, Carolyn Marchie and Lora Swansinger; and grandchildren, Megan, Jason, Rachael, Daniel, Andrea, Allison, Aza, Harper, Seneca and Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Anna (nee Maslaniak) Swansinger; and brothers, William and Richard Swansinger.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick (Please meet at St. Ambrose).

Interment: Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.

Visiting hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association Research Foundation, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693; or St. Ambrose Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick, 44212.
