Rabon L. Sheppard, 73, of Medina, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Hospice of Medina County at The Inn.
He was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Beckley, W.Va. Mr. Sheppard was an autoworker for Ford Motor Co. He was a member of UAW Local 1250. Mr. Sheppard loved his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his wife from Pennsylvania to Florida. He was a boxing fan and an avid hunter, who enjoyed his life in the hills of Pennsylvania, calling it “Camp Almost Heaven.”
Mr. Sheppard is survived by his daughters, Diane Sheppard, Debra Smith (Mike), Terri Marques (Ignatius), Sandra Jenkins (Tom) and Sharon Sheppard; son, Steven Small; sisters, Patty Huffman, Betty Padgett and Margaret Browning (Robert); brothers, Clyde “Bob” Sheppard, James Sheppard (Loretta) and Ralph “Gene” Sheppard; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia J. (nee Sawyer) Sheppard; daughter, Karen Small; brother, Charles Sheppard; parents, Clyde and Vada (nee Wilburn) Sheppard; and two grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick.
Interment: West Park Cemetery, Cleveland.
Visiting hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
