Fred Tezanos, 85, of Brunswick, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.
He was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Jose and Rosario Tezanos. He was employed by Ashland Oil Co. for 36 years. He was transferred from Niagara Falls to Syracuse, N.Y., and finally to Ohio, where he retired in 1985 as an area supervisor. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Alfred State College. Fred took great pleasure in traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. He bowled and was an avid golfer, continuing to golf into his 80s. He will be remembered as a great husband and wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He served in the Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anita (nee Fernandez) of Brunswick, who he married Aug. 14, 1948, at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls; sons, Frederick (Christine) Tezanos of Boston and Thomas (Princess) Tezanos of Brunswick; daughters, Anita Tezanos-Mishler of Orlando, Fla., Aileen (Buster) YurÃ© of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; sisters, Emma Perez and Louise Vallina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick.
Visiting hours: 4 to 8 p.m. today at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick.
