Robert J. Strohl, 63, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Riverside Hospital.
He was born Feb. 6, 1946, in Bellevue to Walter and Dorothy (Hilt) Strohl. He moved to Delaware in 2006 to be near his family after living in Medina for 30 years. Mr. Strohl was a truck driver, retiring from JB Hunt. He was a simple man who was kindhearted and at times could be sarcastic as well as stubborn. He loved animals, especially his dog, Snoopy, and cat, Yoda. Mr. Strohl also treasured old cars, his former 1938 Chrysler Coupe street rod and attending car shows with his son. But he cherished and was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Strohl is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Matt) Hoert of Delaware; son, Zachary Strohl of Delaware; grandchildren, Baily and Calvin; and sister, Nancy (Leonard) Glawatz of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (state Route 36), Delaware, where friends may gather one-half hour prior to the service.
