Andro S. Sopiecha, 89, of Brunswick, passed away Friday, March 13, 2009 in Middleburg Heights. He was born May 12, 1919 in Cleveland.
He served in World War II as an Army First Sergeant, serving four years in the South Pacific. Leaving the service, he entered the family business and became a master baker. In the 1960’s, he established a real estate career and worked for R.A. Gall. He then went on to land development working for and with Ken Cleveland.
His interests included gardening and reading books about history.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Leona (nee Sklarz) Sopiecha of Brunswick; daughters, Susan Graham of Brunswick Hills and Phyllis (Albert) Boulton of Valley City; son, Daniel (Marsha) Sopiecha of Brunswick; grandchildren, Kelly, Brittany, Ryan, Brandon and David; great-grandchildren, Joey and Lily; and dear sister-in-law, Jeannette Slusarski.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Stella Vargo; brother, Phillip Supeha; brother-in-law, Frank Vargo, Sr.; and nephew, Frank Vargo, Jr.
The family will receive friends at Waite & Son Funeral Home Brunswick Chapel, 3300 Center Road (Rt. 303 near I-71), Monday, March 16, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 10 A.M. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick. Father Ken Jacobowski will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
