Betty Jo Perry

Betty Jo Perry, of Medina, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009, at home, following a lengthy illness. Betty was born in Welch, West Virginia, July 13, 1928 to the late Everrett and Lalah Hawks.

Betty lived with her family in the Medina area for over 54 years. She worked at The Ohio Py-thian Sisters, Crestview Nursing Home, and Medina General Hospital.

She enjoyed decorating for the holidays and loved her flower gardens and house plants. She also enjoyed traveling to West Virginia to visit with family and friends, took Mississippi River boat cruises and cruised to the Hawaiian Islands and the Caribbean. Betty especially enjoyed cooking and cooking shows.

Betty is survived by her three loving children, Vicki (Jim) Houghtaling, Tony (Susan) Perry and Chris Perry; grandchildren, Jamie (Jim) Foley, Kenneth (Christina) Houghtaling, Jeremiah (Ja-mie) Perry, Sarah Perry, Terea Perry, Justin (Tara) Perry, Tammy Galvin and Jay Moats; and great-grandchildren, Aaron and Anderson Foley, Hannah Houghtaling, Tyler and Connor Perry, Jessica and Lily Perry, Zoe and Zaden Perry, and Michael and Rebecca Galvin. She is also survived by her nephew, Robert G. (Elizabeth) Perry of Washington, D.C. and her favorite niece, Sandra Williams of Cross Lanes, West Virginia.

Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Ford Perry, her parents, and her brother, Jack Everett Hawks.

There will be no calling hours at Betty’s request. Her family is planning a private memorial ser-vice to celebrate her life at a later date. We wish to thank Hospice of Medina and Bridges Home Health Care for all of their wonderful help and support, especially during her final days.
