Lawrence McNamara, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home, Sunday, March 29, 2009.
He was known by many as the greeter at the Medina WalMart for nearly 15 years. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. McNamara was the beloved husband of Dorothy G. (nee McLaughlin) for 61 years; loving father of Julia (Kenneth) Collier, Denise (Peter Murphy), Raymond (Denise), Martin and Kitty (Brian) Kilbane; devoted grandfather of Jennifer and Chrissy Langdon, Lauren Flynn, Bridget (Kurt) Furukawa, Daniel (Kristina), Cynthia and Jessica Lawler, Erin (John Michael Luskevich), Emily (J.R.) Mack, Meghan, Ryan and Kelsey Kilbane; cherished great-grandfather of Shelly and Kelly McNamara, Maura Claire Mack and Mason James Furukawa; dear brother of John, Virginia; and brother-in-law of Dolores; and uncle and great-uncle to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Margaret (Corrigan) McNamara; sons, Daniel, Philip and Michael; brothers, Thomas, Francis, Philip, James, Vincent, Joseph and Peter; and sisters, Margaret and Sister Mary Lenore.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 3100 S. Weymouth Rd., Medina.
Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
Visiting hours: 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St., and one hour prior to service Thursday at the church.
