Evelyn Kriak

Evelyn “Evie” Kriak lost her battle with cancer Thursday, April 9, 2009. She left us peacefully and was surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home of 52 years, in her sleep. Evelyn was born May 10, 1924, in Johnstown, Pa. She met and married her husband of almost 50 years, started her family and moved to Brunswick in 1957.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church since 1957 and the Women’s Guild. She was a bingo worker and volunteered in the funeral lunch ministry. She attended daily Mass until her illness kept her homebound. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

She retired from Brunswick City Schools in 1988 as a lunch lady and previously worked at Fazio’s in the bakery depart-ment for years. Evie spent her retirement line dancing, casino-hopping, taking senior bus trips, “lunching” with her lady friends and shopping … a lot of shopping!

Her death leaves an emptiness in the lives of her family: son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Maryann; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Roger Reinker, Cindy and Rick Weber and Shelly Kriak; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Sean and Kelly, Amanda, Abby and Charlie, Heidi, Payton and Maizy Mae, Kim and Jim, Richie, Derik and Haley, Jody and Allison, Emma, Frankie and Julie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Crick, and her beloved son, Greg.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 13, 2009, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick. Our Mom will be returned home to Johnstown and laid to rest next to Dad at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Southwest General, 18659 Drake Road, Strongsville, 44136; or St. Augustine Church and Hunger Center, 2486 W. 14th St., Cleveland, 44113.
