Ralph Richard Young, 82, of Inverness, Florida passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009
A member of the greatest generation, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Sargent Bay, in the Pacific Theater.
He married sweetheart Mary Delores Fincannon in 1945 and devoted his entire working career to the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, as a master mechanic and member of the Goodyear Auto Motor Club. He specifically dealt with the motor fleet and the testing operations.
Mr. Young was a lifetime Masonic member.
He retired to a beautiful farm in Summerfield, Ohio, and was an active member of the Road Fork Baptist Church. He loved to bring special treats for the children at Sunday services.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Delores; sisters-in-law, Nell Reed and Colleen Fincannon; brother-in-law, Jim Dugan; devoted children, Bob (Carol) Young, of West Mansfield and Dick (Rita) Young of Diamond; dear grandchildren, Rick, Rob, Randy, Connie, Rex, Matthew and Megan Young; 12 great-grandchildren and “Rocky” the best dog ever; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 11 to 1 P.M. at the Armstrong-Waite Funeral Home, 25 Pleasant St., St. Rt. #3, Seville, Ohio. Funeral services will follow visitation at 1 P.M. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery, Seville, with military honors.
