MEDINA — Parking near the Medina Library, 210 S. Broadway, is more plentiful by 31.
A 31-space lot on East Washington Street opened Wednesday, a library spokeswoman said.
Three dilapidated Victorian homes were razed last fall to make way for the lot, which contains a bike rack and park benches.
The city’s Historic Preservation Board, which eventually approved razing the houses, delayed voting on the issue for several months while organizations such as the Community Design Committee unsuccessfully tried to raise money to purchase and renovate the buildings.
More parking in the area will be available later this year when construction is completed on a $5 million parking deck behind the Medina County Courthouse on Public Square.
