MEDINA TWP. — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on state Route 3 on Tuesday afternoon.

Sgt. Pablo Cruz of the Ohio Highway Patrol reported:

At 3:56 p.m., a 1999 Ford F-150 driven by Michael L. Dunlevy, 48, of Brunswick, was traveling north on Route 3 when he failed to yield while turning left onto Foskett Road. Dunlevy’s vehicle was struck on the front right side by a southbound 2000 Mazda MPV driven by Sam R. Stillo, 47, of Medina.

Both men were transported to Medina General Hospital by the Life Support Team and subsequently were flown by emergency helicopter to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center.

A section of Route 3 was closed for a little more than an hour.

Dunlevy was not wearing a seat belt, leading him to hit his head on the windshield of his vehicle, Cruz said. Stillo was wearing a seat belt, he said.

The conditions of Dunlevy and Stillo were not available Tuesday night.

Cruz said alcohol and/or drugs may have played a role in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
