BRUNSWICK — Four city juveniles were charged with felony vandalism Wednesday after they reportedly went on a destructive spree in the city’s industrial park last month.
The boys — two 12-year-olds and two 13-year-olds — vandalized the property of four businesses on several occasions between May 30 and June 30, police said.
Between May 30 and June 1, the boys forced through the exterior window of a company vehicle parked outside ID Images, 2991 Interstate Parkway, and damaged the windshield, police said.
At the same business between June 3 and 4, the boys threw rocks and cinderblocks through 10 windows of the building. They went through one of the broken windows and “destroyed the lunchroom,” Sgt. Joseph McDermott said Friday. He said property inside the room was tossed and the vending machines were broken.
On June 3, the boys threw rocks through the windshield of a truck owned by Mid-Ohio Material Handling Inc., 1040 Industrial Parkway. On the same day, they threw a rock through an approximately 4-by-8-foot window of Groeneveld, 1130 Industrial Parkway, police said.
McDermott said one of the boys was found when officers were searching surrounding neighborhoods and conducting interviews.
“One of the mothers of one of the kids came up to the officers and said, ‘My kid did it,’ ” he said.
Through interviews, police found the other boys.
McDermott said damages from their vandalism spree total in the thousands of dollars.
