BREAKING NEWS: Union deal means no layoffs at Sheriff’s Office
MEDINA — There will be no layoffs at the Medina County Sheriff’s Office after union members overwhelmingly agreed to stop collecting a 3 percent raise they received this year.
The vote was 79-49, said deputy Bill Harrell, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association for Medina County.
If members had not voted for the proposal, Sheriff Neil Hassinger said 14 employees would be laid off and a 48-bed male unit of the Medina County Jail would be closed.
