MEDINA — A Chippewa Lake man was killed Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle went off the roadway.

Charles M. Gaydos, 46, missed a curve, went off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch, the Ohio Highway Patrol said in a release.

Dispatcher Michael Adams with the Medina post said Gaydos was riding his 2007 Harley-Davidson southbound on state Route 252 near West Law Road northwest of Medina.

The accident occurred just before 4:30 p.m., Adams said.

Gaydos “was ejected from the motorcycle and succumbed to his injuries,” the patrol said.

No other vehicles were involved.

Gaydos, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Medina General Hospital by the Liverpool Township Fire Department.

Drugs and/or alcohol “are unknown as a contributing factor to this crash,” the patrol said, adding the crash is still under investigation.
A Medina Hospital nursing supervisor would only confirm Gaydos had been brought to the hospital. It was unclear Saturday night whether Gaydos died at the hospital or at the scene of the crash.

At least six other area motorcyclists have died since June in crashes. Two more have been critically injured.
