Two Medina County teenagers were badly hurt in a one-car accident overnight in Brunswick Hills Township.

Alyssa Lee, 16, of Medina and Ryan Suvak, 16, of Brunswick are both at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland with life-threatening injuries. Lee has brain injuries and is on a respirator, and Suvak has a partially collapsed lung and other injuries.

Lee, who does not have a driver’s license, was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus north on Sub Station Road just south of Sleepy Hollow Road at 2:17 a.m. when she hit a deer. After hitting the deer, the car swerved off the left side of the road, striking a ditch, utility pole and several small trees.

Lee had to be extricated from the car by the Brunswick Hills Township Fire Department and was LifeFlighted from the accident scene.

Suvak was taken from the scene by ambulance to Southwest General Hospital and was later LifeFlighted to MetroHealth as well.

It doesn’t appear either were wearing seat belts, according to the patrol. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.

Agencies on the scene were the State Highway Patrol, the Brunswick Hills Police Department, the Medina Township Police Department, Brunswick Hills Fire and Rescue, Valley City Fire and Rescue, MetroHealth LifeFlight and Exurb Towing.
