INDIANAPOLIS — Ole Miss’ Dexter McCluster has a bright smile, long dreadlocks and big personality. The do-everything prospect captivated the audience Saturday during his time at the podium — just like he does on the field.
“I definitely pride myself on being electrifying,” McCluster said.
McCluster measured 5-foot-8, 172 pounds, which is the only reason he might drop into the second round. He amassed 1,169 rushing yards and 520 receiving yards with 11 total touchdowns as a senior and has big-play ability.
Some teams like him better as a running back, some as a slot receiver. All would like him to return kicks. He said he’ll do running back and receiver drills this week, in addition to running the 40-yard dash, which he expects to take 4.3 seconds.
“It’s only 40 yards, should be able to get it over with pretty quick,” McCluster said.
He said he met with the Browns, who focused on him as a running back. President Mike Holmgren said Friday the Browns want to add depth at the position.
