SHARON TWP. — A 21-year-old Medina man died after he crashed his motorcycle on state Route 162 Thursday afternoon.

About 4:50 p.m., Charles E. Nixon was traveling west on Route 162 approximately two-tenths of a mile west of Boneta Road on a Yamaha 250 motorcycle. He lost control and the bike went off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox and then a culvert, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Nixon, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike onto the right side of the road. Nixon was pronounced dead at the scene, the OHP reported.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, according to the OHP, and the crash remains under investigation.
