Quick hits from Browns practice
BEREA — Some sights and sounds (OK, more sights than sounds) from the Friday morning practice of Browns minicamp.
** Cornerback Eric Wright (leg), tight end Evan Moore (leg) and receiver Jake Allen (leg) didn’t practice.
** The offense looked much better than it did Thursday morning. Much of the practice was spent on red zone and goal-line drills, so that helped. But quarterbacks Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace looked sharp, and receivers Brian Robiskie and rookie free agent Johnathan Haggerty caught multiple touchdowns.
** Joshua Cribbs made a nice catch in the end zone on a cross from Wallace, snatching the ball out of the air in traffic.
** Reserve quarterback Brett Ratliff missed two open receivers for what would’ve been touchdowns in limited repetitions.
** Rookie sixth-round defensive end Cliff Geathers, who threw punches at the offensive line Thursday afternoon, ran over rookie third-round guard Shawn Lauvao, drawing some barking between the offense and defense. Fullback Lawrence Vickers yelled that the play would draw Geathers a fine from coach Eric Mangini.
** Defensive end Robaire Smith, a Michigan State product whose brother Antonio played for the Spartans, doesn’t know if Tom Izzo is going to take the Cavaliers coaching job but he believes he’d be successful.
“It wouldn’t be hard for him to earn the trust of his players,” Smith said. “He’s a people person and he listens.”
