Indians 8, Tigers 2: Tribe routs Detroit in series opener

The Indians opened the second half with a victory, routing the Tigers 8-2 Friday night at Progressive Field.

Jake Westbrook improved to 6-5 on the season, allowing two runs on five hits, while striking out five over 5 2/3 innings.

Cleveland broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning that was capped by a two-run home run from Austin Kearns.
