Medina man hurt in I-76 crash

WADSWORTH TWP. — A Medina man was injured in a one-car accident Monday afternoon that closed two lanes on Interstate 76.

Ohio Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Neff said one eastbound and one westbound lane were closed after Edward Pfaffel, 26, lost control of his eastbound car at 12:48 p.m. The car traveled across the median and overturned in the westbound lane.

Pfaffel was coherent when he was transported to Akron General Hospital by Wadsworth Fire & EMS, Neff said.

A hospital spokeswoman said Pfaffel’s condition was not available Monday.

Neff said it was unknown whether Pfaffel was wearing a seat belt.

Although the accident is under investigation, Neff said initial observations suggest Pfaffel’s tires “were in bad shape” and possibly led to the crash.

The crash scene was cleared at 2:18 p.m., he said.
