GRANGER TWP.— A member who served five months on the Highland school board has resigned because he’s moving out of state.
Hinckley Township resident John CizMadia was appointed to the board March 15 to replace longtime member Nancy Wingenbach, who also resigned because she moved out of the district.
CizMadia could not be reached Tuesday for comment.
Anyone who is appointed will have to run for the seat in November 2011 to fulfill the remaining two years of the four-year term.
The Highland board is accepting applications for the seat. Interested applicants may contact Sue Liszniansky by calling (330) 239-1901, ext. 1217, to request an application and information packet.
The board has 30 days to fill the seat. The deadline for applications is Sept. 10.
Board President Norm Christopher said Ciz-Madia was a good addition to the board, but members also are looking forward to a fresh perspective.
“What we’re looking for is somebody with a broad perspective regarding education, advocating for children and families in the district,” he said. “We’re looking for somebody who obviously can tell the story of the district and who has understanding of some of the financial weight in the state of Ohio.”
The district also recommends interested applicants visit the Ohio School Boards Association’s website at www.osba-ohio.org for information on serving on a board of education.
