Republican U.S. House candidate Jim Renacci is ahead of incumbent Democrat John Boccieri in a recent tally conducted by The Hill/ANGA poll.
The poll has Renacci beating the first-term Boccieri by a 42-39 percent margin with 15 percent of voters undecided. It does not include Libertarian Party candidate Jeffery Blevins.
Women, who tend to break for Democrats in general, are breaking for the Republican, as Renacci gets 45 percent of the female vote to Boccieri’s 36, according to the poll results.
The query asked 401 likely voters in Ohio’s 16th Congressional District who they preferred in the Nov. 2 general election race. The 16th District encompasses Medina, Ashland, Stark and Wayne counties.
The poll was conducted Sept. 25-27. It consisted of 401 phone interviews among likely voters and has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 4.9 percent.
