BRUNSWICK — With the finishing touches put on around 9 p.m. Saturday and the stain on the columns still wet, the city revealed its cedar and steel archway for the new entrance to Brunswick Lake Park on Sunday morning.

The arch was built and donated by Justice & Company designers, based in Medina Township. Brunswick Art Works and the city collaborated on the project and revealed it in conjunction with the city’s 50th birthday celebration.

The arch features a granite medallion with a carved image of Brunswick Lake on the floor of the structure. The arch also has more than 70 ceramic tiles painted by members of the community, many of which depicted images of Brunswick.

In addition to being an entrance to the park, Parks and Recreation Director John Piepsny said the project has bridged a partnership between Justice & Company and the city.

“It’s been a long road to get where we are today,” Piepsny said of the arch project.

James Justice, of Justice & Co., said he is looking forward to future projects with the city.

Rosemary Mihacevich, founder and executive director of Brunswick Art Works, said the arch is only the first step in a process to bring a sculpture park to the city. She said future project ideas include an interactive sundial and tiled benches.

“We’re very grateful the city has given us its support,” Mihacevich said. “Brunswick Lake will be the destination point that Brunswick has always hoped for.”
