COLUMBUS — A new poll finds the candidates running for governor in Ohio in a tight race heading into the final week of the election.
The poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac University shows Republican challenger John Kasich with an apparent slight lead over Democratic incumbent Ted Strickland.
The poll finds the former congressman in front with 49 percent to Strickland’s 43 percent. The margin of error is plus-or-minus 4 percentage points.
Most polls in the last week have shown Kasich with no more than a slim lead.
Strickland’s campaign has said in recent weeks that its internal surveys show the race much closer than surveys released by Quinnipiac.
The survey of 686 likely Ohio voters was taken Oct. 18 to Oct. 24.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
