The Medina County Board of Elections has had about 15,000 people vote early in person or by submitting absentee ballots since the end of September. There are 125,684 registered voters in Medina County and 151 precincts.

Board Director Janet Pilat said office staff also has been working throughout October to make sure all the voting machines are working properly. So far, she said, there have not been any problems.

“Everything is moving right along as it should,” Pilat said.

During early voting at the Board of Elections office, 4210 N. Jefferson St., she said most people have not had to wait more than 10 minutes.

The board office only will be open today for provisional voting. A provisional ballot is used to record a vote if the voter’s eligibility is in question and therefore is not permitted to vote at his or her polling place.

Pilat said the board is not anticipating long lines today at polling places and is prepared to get people through quickly.

“We’re busy, but we’re able to get them through without too much of a wait,” she said. “There’s always a line at 6:30 in the morning,” The polls will be open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. today. Actual ballots can be viewed on the Board of Elections’ website, www.boe.co.medina.oh.us.
