COLUMBUS — Democratic U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton defeated a political newcomer as she was re-elected to her Northeast Ohio House seat.

Sutton on Tuesday beat Republican Tom Ganley, a well-known Ohio car dealer.

Ganley pulled the plug on his broadcast TV advertising last month, deciding to advertise instead on cable TV and the radio — which cost a fraction as much — to reach more voters.
