Lt. Josh Swindell, commander of the Medina post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, said a white Ford F-150 pickup heading west about 1 p.m. on Neff Road apparently ran a stop sign and struck the side of a northbound RV Winnebago, which then slid sideways and hit a Hyundai Elantra traveling south on Route 252.
The female driver of the Hyundai, who was trapped beneath the RV, was extricated from her vehicle and transported to Medina Hospital with apparent serious injuries, Swindell said.
Township resident Mike Coad, the driver of the RV, was taken to Medina Hospital with minor injuries. Kathy Coad said her husband was in good shape, considering the damage to all the vehicles.
“He’s doing fine. He just had a gash or two on his forehead,” she said after arriving at the accident scene.
Swindell noted the male driver in the F-150 was flown by emergency helicopter to Cleveland Metro-Health Medical Center. He was the most seriously injured of the three, the lieutenant said.
There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
At press time Monday night, the names of those involved in the crash were not available.
Besides the patrol, agencies responding to the crash included the Erhart-York Township Fire Department, Valley City Fire Department and Medina County Sheriff’s Office.
