CLEVELAND — Cavaliers coach Byron Scott will have a lighter wallet when he goes Christmas shopping this year.
Scott on Sunday was fined $35,000 by the NBA for publicly criticizing the officials following a 111-100 loss in Orlando on Friday, league vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson announced.
Other than the automatic fines he’s had to pay stemming from technicals and ejections, Scott said it’s the first time he’s been penalized in his coaching career.
The Cavs were off Sunday, but Scott said Saturday prior to a game against Memphis at Quicken Loans Arena that he expected to take a hit to his wallet for ripping officials Ed Malloy, Bennie Adams and Kevin Fehr.
