MEDINA — A city resident received his 12th impaired driving charge on Thanksgiving Day after a concerned motorist called police to report a drunken driver.
Kelly Dorler, 45, of 530 Wadsworth Road, Apt. 312, was arrested at approximately 5:15 p.m. Thursday after he allegedly was observed weaving while driving a van on West Washington Street. The concerned resident called police and followed the driver until authorities arrived, police reported.
A Breathalyzer test indicated Dorler had a blood alcohol content of 0.174, according to police. Ohio’s legal limit is 0.08. It is Dorler’s third felonious OVI offense, police said. OVI charges can be misdemeanors or felonies under Ohio law.
“Drunk drivers are playing Russian roulette with our community and their gun is pointed at innocent people,” Police Chief Pat Berarducci said in a statement. “They are a significant threat to our community. We will use every legal means at our disposal to take them off the street.”
Dorler was in the Medina County Jail on Monday on $100,000 bond, a jail spokesman said.
