SHARON TWP. — A Medina woman was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer this morning in front of her house on state Route 18, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Michelle A. Jarvis, 42, of 1706 Medina Road, was walking south and attempting to cross the highway about 6:45 a.m. when she was struck by a 2007 International 9200 tractor-trailer.

Jarvis was transported to Medina Hospital where she was pronounced dead, said Lt. Josh Swindell, commander of the OHP’s Medina post.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Daniel J. Cagwin, of Oakwood Village, was traveling east on Route 18 when the accident happened, Swindell said.

The accident investigation is ongoing, Swindell said, and no charges had been filed against the driver as of this afternoon.
He said he didn’t know why Jarvis was trying to cross the highway.

Medina County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted the OHP at the
scene.
